MASTERPLAN
ECf's masterplan comprises principally an office-based scheme of six buildings around a new public square characterised by the quality of its public realm. As a masterplan, it is self contained and can be developed without the need for further third party land, though through the introduction of some key pedestrian routes between the buildings, it represents the 'front door' to Liverpool Vision's wider business district masterplan.
St Paul's Square will set the quality benchmark for the entire commercial district where new standards will be attained for the quality of the design and materials for both the buildings and the spaces between the buildings. ECf has taken up the mantel for delivering this flagship project.
Much consideration has been given during design development to issues such as maximising sunlight into the square and to the introduction of an appropriate amount of retail and bar/restaurant space around the key pedestrian routes. With the estimated footfall generated from ECf's buildings and those adjacent, it is envisaged that the landscape of St Paul's Square will be an attractive meeting venue and a place where people can spend time enjoying an al fresco coffee or a meal in a vibrant urban square.
ECf's vision for St Paul's is primarily to provide a quality business environment, but with a mix of other complementary uses to add energy and interest to a prestigious scheme. References to Brindley Place, Birmingham, Paternoster Square, London and Barbirolli Square, Manchester have been made to formulate Liverpool's own 21st century business address.
